Virtual Classroom

I'm Ms. Mahaffey!

This will be my ninth year teaching in the elementary music classroom and I'm thrilled to return for my third year here at Weimar Elementary.

I am a Kodály certified music educator and I have also taught at the collegiate level preparing future music educators and instructing how to incorporate music in the general classroom.

I love teaching the next generation of music makers and developing students' inherent musical skills.

Weimar Elementary Music Syllabus 2025-2026

Supplies & Materials: All instruments and materials are provided. School owned instruments require a parent permission slip form to take home.

Grading Policy: Students grades 1st through 4th receive a numerical grade for music. Each grading period includes a minimum of four equally weighted grades. Two grades are based on participation (progress report participation grade and a final participation grade) and two music concept grades (melodic and rhythmic). Students are given multiple occasions to demonstrate their musical skills in class allowing opportunities to redo or make-up missed assessments. Academic dishonesty (cheating, copying, plagiarism,  unauthorized communication between students, etc.) may result in disciplinary action including office referral/detention and the student will have to retake the assessment.

Homework Policies: Students are highly encouraged, but not required to practice outside of classroom time.
